Bismuth coated graphite felt modified by silver particles for selective electroreduction of CO2 into formate in a flow cell

A 3D porous Ag-Bi electrode was developed to achieve the highly selective reduction of CO2 into formate. Ag particles were deposited on Bi coated graphite felt by galvanic displacement reaction. The selectivity enhanced with compared felt. bimetallic catalytic system converted formate a high 88% at -1.6 VSCE. structure and large surface area facilitated mass transport, leading current density 76 mA cm−2 production rate 8.1 ± 0.4 mmol cm−3 h−1 (62 3 mg h−1). These results are very promising in context electrochemical conversion CO2.
